Picture of Susan SewellSusan Semrad Sewell, M.S., CCC-SLP is the founder of Catapult Speech Systems and a nationally certified speech-language pathologist with 20 years experience working in the public schools and in private practice. She holds the Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech and Hearing Association and is licensed by the State of New Mexico. She also holds teaching certificates through the New Mexico Public Education department with early childhood and high school endorsements and is certified by the Institute of Language and Phonology to provide foreign accent reduction training utilizing the the Compton Pronouncing English as a Second Language (P-ESL) program.

Catapult Speech was created in 2006 to address the needs of an underserved population in Albuquerque: foreign-born professionals whose accents hinder their personal and professional advancement.

Susan obtained a Bachelor of University Studies from the University of New Mexico, majoring in education and Spanish. She graduated with honors from the University of New Mexico, earning Master of Science degree in Communicative Disorders. While in school, she spent two years working with Carol Westby on Project HITOS, a personnel training grant for those working with children ages birth to five.

Susan lives in Albuquerque, New Mexico and is the mother of two wonderful adult children. She enjoys hiking, gardening, scuba diving, and playing with her dogs. Raised in Mexico, she is a fluent speaker of Spanish.
